RUBBER MATS
Let's consider the solid, heavy rubber mat system. First of all, with no
drainage the urine will be pooled on the mat, soaking up your bedding, wasting
it and causing all the ammonia vapors to remain in the stall which causes
respiratory problems for people and horses. Eventually the edges of the rubber
mat may begin to curl allowing the bedding to accumulate under the edges making
the floor unlevel, requiring the mats to be re-laid.
The solid rubber mat also does not allow the floor to breathe so the urine that runs down between the cracks lays there and tends to breed odor and bacteria. The rubber mats are heavy and must be taken out frequently to be cleaned properly.
GROUNDMASTER
The Groundmaster floor system was designed by professional horsemen and
horsewomen to overcome the draw backs of other floorings on the market today. It
is a one-piece, light weight polyethylene flooring that comes to you rolled up
like a carpet. You just unroll it, tamp it into a base that will set up very firm
and you will have a permanent, maintenance free stall floor that drains and
breathes. Your bedding will last 7 to 10 days longer than on a solid rubber mat
because most of the urine and ammonia are wicked away immediately.

GROUNDMASTER is extruded from extremely durable, high density, virgin polyethylene resins, this stall flooring has a tensile strength in excess of 600,000#/sq. ft. A textured surface is heat bonded into the flooring.

It is recommended that you remove all of the bedding from the stall every 4-6 weeks and with a garden pump sprayer, spray the floor with an organically effective, broad spectrum disinfectant such as Tek-Trol.
